Hoc: Kookaburras sink Spanish to make men's hockey final
Australia bolted into its fourth Olympic men's hockey final with an emphatic 6-3 victory
over Spain in their semi-final in Athens tonight.
The Kookaburras have never won the gold medal despite being making the semi-finals
in their last six Olympic campaigns.
They will meet the Netherlands in Friday's final after the reigning Olympic champions
dismissed Germany 3-2 in an earlier semi-final.
The Kookaburras tonight pressed the Spanish out of their comfort zones and were ruthlessly
efficient in front of goal in the free-scoring encounter.
MICHAEL MCCANN celebrated his 100th international with a double while GRANT SCHUBERT
also bagged two goals in the match.
TROY ELDER and MATTHEW WELLS were Australia's other goalscorers on a night where everything
turned to gold for the green and gold.
