Fed: WA farmers receive dairy assistance

Federal Agriculture Minister WARREN TRUSS says West Australian farmers affected bydairy deregulation will receive nearly $1 million for projects designed to help replacelost income.

Mr TRUSS says four projects will help dairy communities in the south-west of the statedevelop new infrastructure, industries and market opportunities to replace some of theirlost income.

The West Australian government passed laws in 2000 to deregulate the dairy industry.

The $918,568 in federal funds has been provided under the federal Dairy Regional AssistanceProgram.
