Fed: Dud sub can be fixed, no thanks to Swedes: Hill

CANBERRA, Feb 26 AAP - The Swedish builders of the trouble-plagued Collins submarineswere to blame for the latest hull problems, the federal government said today.
But Defence Minister Robert Hill denied the lead ship in the fleet, HMAS Collins, wouldnever see active service because its failings were too great to ever be fixed.
The nation's $6 billion fleet of six Collins submarines remains in port after beingsuspended from service a fortnight ago when a broken hose allowed tonnes of seawater toflood into HMAS Dechaineux.
